(If it seems like a lot of places in and around New York are named for the English explorer—you’re right. It’s a popular name for several NYC neighborhoods, which can get confusing.)

Warren Street, the city’s main hub, is lined with art galleries like Davis Orton Gallery and Hudson Underground and stores including Fern, Talbot & Arding, and The Spotty Dog Books & Ale. For a bite, you can head to The Cascades, Baba Louie’s, Grazin’ Diner, and Le Gamin Country.

There are several parks in the area, including Henry Hudson Riverfront Park, Promenade Hill Park, and Oakdale Park. For hiking, you can head to the 625-acre Greenport Conservation Area. You can also take a boat ride to the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse.

When it comes to the area’s real estate, the current median sales price is $480,000, according to Realtor.com. There are currently around 60 houses on the market as well as some condos and new construction. You can find houses within walking distance to downtown and farther out with more outdoor space.
